The 24th Annual SAIMS 2012 Conference was a huge success. It was hosted by the Department of Business Management at Stellenbosch University from 9-11 September 2012. The SAIMS conference is one of the accredited conferences in our field in South Africa.

No less than 11 papers were presented by colleagues from the School of Management Sciences from the NMMU namely:

Congratulations to Prof Elmarie Venter and Dr Shelley Farrington who won one of the two Best Paper Awards together with Prof Stephan van der Merwe of the NWU.  The title of their paper was: “Relation-based factors influencing the perceived success of intergenerational family businesses”. 

The department of Business Management has now won four of the Best Paper Awards at SAIMS the past 6 years – what an achievement – well done!!!

Prof Elmarie Venter is currently also the president of SAIMS and Chairperson of the Board of Directors.

Well done to all our colleagues that have mentored junior staff to present their papers at the conference – well done and keep up the good work.
