The Logistics Society, an NMMU student society affiliated to the Logistics Department recently hosted two guest speakers from industry who addressed their members (students studying towards the ND: Logistics and ND: Inventory and Stores Management) on topics related to their discipline and course content.

On 13 May 2015 Mr Lawton Johnson, Senior Auditor from South African Bureau of Standards (Pty) Ltd informed the students about, "The importance and requirements of the ISO-Standards certification process and its impace on the output quality and success of business firms".

A week later (20 May 2015), Miss Chetna Doolabh, a Supply Chain Coordinator from Lumotech (Pty) Ltd addressed our students on, "The activities involved, and the importance of proper coordination within Supply Chains", in which she also highlighted examples of "real world" challenges faced within supply chains and possible solutions to overcome such challenges. Our students, which included two international students from Germany enjoyed both presentations and found it interesting.
