Mr Paul Tai-Hing from the Department of Management Practice was awarded Overall Excellent Teacher of the Year at NMMU's research, teaching and engagement ceremony.

Mr Tai-Hing's approach to teaching involves assigning projects that will provide students with valuable work experience. Not only does Mr Tai-Hing give students valuable work experience, but teaches them the importance of giving back to communities by channeling funds from sales into social projects.

One of his recent projects was the sale of a glossy recipe book. One group of students managed to raise R15 000 for Reach for a Dream, while another organised a high tea to generate sales.

Mr Tai-Hing is currently busy with his PhD and hopes to implement his findings at the NMMU. He feels strongly that social entrepreneurship is a way to assist disadvantaged students.

Congratulations to Mr Tai-Hing for winning this award!
