Third Year Marketing diploma students in the Marketing Research class of 2012 of Mrs Renee Ferreira, were required to assist Retina South Africa with a research study to assess their awareness levels in the PE / Uitenhage region.

Each of the 82 students selected a different residential area to visit and conducted face-to-face interviews with 25 respondents in the area. They then analysed the data and presented a written report and an oral presentation of their findings and recommendations to a delegation from RSA.

Gail Cillie, practice manager at RSA East Cape branch, says she was “blown away” with the quality of work of the students.

In March Lisa Wagner travelled to Gauteng to attend the congress of the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa which attracted 600 delegates representing eye care professionals.  She was tasked with establishing the effectiveness of RSA’s communication with the very people who refer patients to the organisation.

The information gathered this year will be used next year by the Marketing diploma second year students to develop a marketing strategy for RSA.
