The I-week was hosted online by the University of Antwerp, Belgium and facilitated by Prof Shelley Farrington and Dr Storm Watson. The week consisted of five interactive days of presentations, discussions and workshops during which students were exposed to international academics, sustainability experts and CEOs. The I-week provided a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with professionals and academics about economic, ecological and ethical sustainability; listen to a debate on sustainability, held by CEOs from international companies; analyse a current sustainability issue through group work with other international students; meet students from all around the world; and improve their language and intercultural skills.
To receive their certification the students also had to hand in a group paper, an individual assignment and had to take an intercultural competences test at the beginning and end of the week to see how their views on their competences had changed. These assessments made up the mark they obtained on their certificates.
The students participating in the week were Nokuthula Runqe and Robert Lyons from the Department of Management Practice, Tandazile Madikizela, Wongani Kaunda and Maureen Jumba from the Department of Business Management, Zandile Mzingaye from the Department of Logistics and Ntokoza Rwapuluza from the Department of Marketing.
