Congratulations to Dr Ayanda Deliwe, Senior Lecturer in Business Management and HOD: Department of Business Management, for being named the Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences Emerging Researcher of the Year!

 

The award is given to emerging researchers who have made a significant contribution to their relevant field of research and is based on Dr Deliwe’s research outputs during the 2021 calendar year.  

 

Dr Deliwe had numerous research studies published and made other research-related contributions during the year, including:

  • Article published in International Journal of Innovation, Creativity and Change, titled – “Factors influencing the customer value of e-learning systems: A case of the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal”. This was also presented at the 7th International Conference on Higher Education Advances 2021 (HEAd’21), where Dr Deliwe was also a “session chair”.
  • Two co-authored articles published in GATR Journal of Business and Economics Review (JBER), titled – “Perceptions of food retailers regarding climate change and greenhouse gas emissions” and “Assessing SME Perceptions of Using Green Social Media Marketing”.
  • Presented research paper at the 20th European Conference on e-Learning (ECEL 2021), titled – “The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Higher Education in Africa: A Systematic Review and Implications”. Dr Deliwe was also invited as an expert in the field to propose and chair a mini track.
  • Invited to be a speaker at the African e-Learning & Technology Conference hosted by the Federated Management Institute (National Conference).
  • Received a certificate of excellence in reviewing from the Indian Journal of Science and Technology.
  • Supervised three and co-supervised two Honours students that graduated at the December 2021 graduation ceremony, while also actively supervising various Master’s and PhD students.

 

Dr Deliwe is passionate about Learning, Teaching and Research. As a result, she continuously engages in research to improve her knowledge within the field, so that she can provide quality education to her students. Furthermore, she is the recipient of the Thuthuka grant and she is currently working on a research project, titled “Information and communication technology strategies used at selected universities for teaching, marketing and knowledge management”. This is a three-year project that will result in several research outputs.
