Mr Luyolo Mahlangabeza recently presented two papers at the International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines (IABPAD) Conference, which was held during 21-24 April 2022, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel near the Galleria in Dallas, Texas.

The IABPAD has a global scope that aims to bring worldwide researchers and professionals together. IABPAD was founded for the purpose of promoting academic research in the field of Business and Public Administration and motivating the intellectual development of scholars. The conference had the following parallel sessions: Education/Business Communication, Management/International Business/Marketing, and Covid-19 Pandemic/Research.

Mr Mahlangabeza’s first presentation investigated the influence of leadership on performance and service delivery in South African local government. A key lesson that emerged was that leadership that seeks to look out for the interest of the organisation as opposed to personal interest is one of the best founding principles of effective leadership and service delivery. His second presentation investigated the challenges of women in leadership positions in the South African public sector. The need to appreciate the challenges that women in leadership positions in the public sector face was highlighted.
