Mr Riyaad Ismail, a PhD student in the Department of Business Management and lead researcher for the international project titled "Improving Student Entrepreneurship Support at South African Universities in order to Mitigate Youth Unemployment", recently visited entrepreneurship stakeholders at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and Stellenbosch University (SU) to share some of the project’s findings.

At SU, Mr Ismail met up with Ms Leana Kotze (SU LaunchLab: Business Development & Marketing Director), with whom he shared some of the project’s findings and who also gave him a tour of their facilities.

At UCT, Mr Ismail met up with Ms Nadia Waggie (Head of Operations at UCT Career Services and Student Entrepreneurship Champion), who provided insights into the various entrepreneurial initiatives at UCT, as well as their plans for student entrepreneurship at their university. The possibility of UCT’s future involvement in the project was also discussed.

Both Ms Kotze and Ms Waggie showed great interest in the project’s preliminary results and are looking forward to the release of the project report and cases in April 2022, as well as the Student Entrepreneurship Development Tool that is currently being developed by the project team. Mr Ismail will be visiting Belgium and the Netherlands in May 2022 to finalise the various project outcomes with the assistance of the team members based there.
