Through the “Marketing Cares” initiative, the Marketing Management Department supported various projects, both internally, and externally, in 2014.  They started off with a contribution towards the faculty of Law’s Ubuntu Community programme collecting food for Campus Health’s Nutrition.  As Campus Health is currently assisting almost 1000 students with its nutrition programme, we felt that this was an opportunity to directly make a difference in the lives of students we possibly deal with on a daily basis.   In responding to a plea from the Computing Sciences Department, “Marketing Cares” also donated 28 bags to be distributed to disadvantaged students who don’t have bags for their books.

The “Get wrapped” blanket drive for children with cancer in Paediatric Oncology Hospital wards across South Africa was also well supported.  The reach of the “Get Wrapped” project stretched from Cape Town, along the Garden Route, to the Eastern Cape, Kwazulu Natal, Gauteng and the Free State.  In his personal capacity, Mr. Andrew Marriot is involved in running a lifeguard training programme, including 18 high school learners from DF Malherbe High School and Walmer Masifunde Learner Development Centre.
